Sightseeing in Moscow

Every visitor to Moscow is irresistibly drawn to the Red Square, the historical and spiritual heart of the city. The Red Square is closely connected with the historical past of the country, as it is the place where numerous events took place. The Red Square came into being during the reign of Ivan III. The Red Square served as Moscow’s meeting place, where people used to crowd to meet friends or to hear government announcements. Many of Moscow hotels are next to the Red Square.

Moscow Manege is one of the most remarkable buildings in Moscow. It is located next to Manege Square. The Moscow Manege was designed by a Spanish engineer. Manege is a unique building, as it has no internal roof support. The roof rafters rest on the external columns of the manege, providing area for the riders to work. Manege served as a place where horsemen could show and develop their skills. In 1831, Manege was converted into an exhibition place and an art gallery. In 2004 great fire destroyed most parts of the Manege, but it was soon reconstructed.

Poklonnaya Mountain is a significant war memorial. It was established on the 23 of February in 1958 to commemorate the victory of Soviet people in Great patriotic War (World War II). The opening of the memorial took place on the 9th of may, 1995. The Poklonnaya Mountain is the most significant memorial that was erected in honor and in memory of the war.
